I went to see Cristin and stop in while she was at work at the Math Emporium. In the parking lot was this big thing that looked like a 18wheeler truck trailer which had windows cut into the side saying "DIMDIMDIM" and what looked like huge screens flashing maybe music videos shining through it. There was a quasi-sound stage outside too and some piped music. I was thinking a weird concert thing, but no band - and only a handful of people around it. We walked by and asked what the thing was, and apparently it was a clothing store. You can walk inside this trailer thing. I still don't understand, but it was definitely different.

There are alot of people online who are saying that its really a matter of time before things change and the music industry / government wakes up to the fact that music distribution is fundamentally different than current copyright law addresses. These people are pushing government to work on the issue, trying to come up with a solution that works for all parties (although sometimes "all parties" doesn't really include the big media companies - just the artists themselves and the consumers). People cite radio as being fundamentally the same and the revolution that went on there.
I personally would like to see these things come to fruition as well. I think though that people are not being careful. The issue of Music piracy (or more generally digital media rights) can take two directions - this direction they are pushing for or the direction that marijuana use has ended in. Namely: there is no real logical reason why pot smoking is worse than alcohol, 1/4 of all americans have smoked pot, and yet laws exist to make this major industry illegal and there is money spent on "educating" the public as to the negatives. Pot is in a legal hole so deep that it's nearly impossible to get out of. Nobody hardly tries anymore. Digital Media could go this route, we need to be careful.
